TOYS AND RECREATIONAL PRODUCTS

Defective toys can cause severe injury-like the spring-loaded rocket that one boy shot into the air and came down into our client's eye. When the rubber tip fell off it left a sharp screw exposed which severely damaged the eye. The overseas manufacturer had to pay close to seven figures for the clearly defective design of that toy. Unsafe toys are especially dangerous because they put unsuspecting children in harm's way.

We usually have that same "unsuspecting" feeling when we're out having fun.

No one thinks about lawsuits when they're on vacations or out playing.

People don't think about legal claims for recreational activities like golf or scuba diving or skiing, but we have helped clients prove claims in these areas.

We have had successful and substantial results in recreation cases where carelessness caused terrible injuries.

Here are a few examples:

  • A scuba diving course in Lake Michigan went terribly wrong and caused a Hispanic man (a decorated Vietnam Vet!) to lose his memory, his job, and his ability to enjoy his life and his family. The scuba company paid every penny of their $2 million coverage even though he had signed "releases."

  • Another man whose golf cart tipped over and broke his leg received $200,000.

  • We have had "jet-ski" deaths and injuries at resorts outside the United States.

  • A young man lost his leg on a "Gravitron" amusement park ride and received a seven- figure settlement.

  • One client injured by scalding water in a hotel shower in Scotland received compensation here in the United States.

  • A ride at a McDonald's restaurant injured many children. We were able to get our client, a little girl, full compensation for her broken arm.

  • We represented a very nice professional woman who was injured at a resort in Brazil. A hotel representative flew to New York to conclude the settlement with us.

We have handled roller skate accidents, sports accidents, accidents with bicycles and other recreational injuries.

These cases require careful legal analysis and consultation with experts including engineers and architects.

Don't believe that you can't recover for someone else's carelessness just because you were playing, you were outside the U.S., or even if you signed releases.
